Though not promised to us, God has blessed us with a new year. This new year is loaded with countless possibilities. The question is what will you do with this blessing from God?
I don’t know anybody in his or her right mind who does not want to succeed in life. Every sane person wants to be a winner in life. I understand that “winner” is a subjective term. But however we define being a winner, all of us want to win in the game of life.
By and large, success in life does not just happen. Sure, a few instances defy that rule. But generally speaking, people who win in life determine beforehand that they are going to win. So, what will you do with this new year God has blessed you with?
As we engage 2023, I believe it’s important for us to reflect on 2022. Yes, I am saying the two are connected. Even if in your view, 2022 was a terrible year for you, it is still a gold mine to be tapped. That’s because all of us have had experiences in 2022 to serve as lessons learned that we can apply to 2023.
Sad but true, many people will make 2023 virtually a repeat of 2022. We have coined a definition for insanity as doing the same thing again and again but hoping for different results. If you fail to reflect on last year, you are prone to living the same virtually again this year.
Include God in Your Plans for 2023
That we have lived to see this new year is a gift from God. Nothing on our part has made us more deserving of this gift than those who did not live to see 2023. We should strive to be good stewards of this amazing gift from God.
Moreover, we must not forget to include God in our plans for this new year. No matter what you want to accomplish, your chances for success are far greater when you make God part of your plan. For Christians, this is not an option. Whatever we want to do in life, we are to do it as if to the Lord (Colossians 3:23).
The title of this post poses a question. Perhaps the answers to that question are as many as there are readers. But what I say to one I say to all. God wants to be a vital part of what you will do with this new year. If He is not, you don’t have the best plan for this year.
For those of us who believe in God, what should distinguish us from the world is that we do what we do through God and not on our own. For this new year, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
