If you pray to God regularly, I am sure you pray about spiritual things and significant issues pertaining to your physical or temporal needs. But are there some things that concern you that you tend to not “bother God” with?
Some years ago, I was praying, and I mentioned to God a situation that was bugging me. The situation involved Hurricane Matthew in 2016. It had caused twenty-four feet of my privacy fence to be uprooted by the roots of downed trees in a lot adjacent to my house. The City owns and maintains the lot. That means it was the City’s responsibility to clear the host of trees that had fallen so I could repair my fence.
The hurricane-related incident had occurred over seven months ago, relative to when I prayed about it. And the city had yet to address the situation!
Somehow, the contractors that came from around the country to help our city with tree removal missed this particular lot, and all of the contractors had long returned to their cities. I had been calling the City for several months and had gotten nothing but the brush-off and empty promises. I won’t go any further and bore you with the details.
Anyway, seven months after Hurricane Matthew, I prayed to God about this situation. I asked Him to move mightily in the situation on my behalf. As I prayed, it dawned on me that it was the first time I had prayed to God about the situation. I had made calls to City Hall, to other departments of the City, and to my alderman trying to resolve the situation, all to no avail.
God Cares About That, Too
Generally speaking, this incident was not a spiritual matter. But in his first epistle, Peter writes, “Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7, KJV). The key word here is “all.” God wants us to cast everything upon Him simply because He cares. He cares about everything that concerns us.
Though getting the Hurricane Matthew damage resolved was not a spiritual matter, the discipline to cast all our cares upon God is a spiritual matter. If we believe God cares about everything that concerns us, we will earnestly pray to Him about everything that concerns us.
What about you? Is there something in your life that you can’t seem to resolve or overcome that you have not prayed to God about? Is it because you feel as if it’s not spiritual enough or it’s nothing Almighty God cares about? Or maybe, you just never thought about praying about it.
An old hymn that comes to mind is, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” In it, the hymnologist writes, “O what peace we often forfeit. O what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.”
God cares about more than your spiritual growth, directing you on critical matters, or the purpose He has for your life. Learn to cast all your cares upon Him. This does not mean He will tweak every aspect of your life to perfectly please you. But it does mean you will have the best quality of life possible.

The Lord cares about everything. The Scripture says that we should cast “all our cares upon the Lord” and be careful for nothing. Nothing means nothing. Thank you for sharing,
