When God calls us to a work, it can be intimidating. He often calls us to things we feel ill-equipped to do. He tends to call us to things that are bigger than we are because our God is a big God. But equally important, God is big in His faithfulness to supply our needs in the ministry He calls us to.
In Moses’ old age, God called him to build a sanctuary for Him. He showed Moses the vision of how the sanctuary was to look, including the furniture and the utensils.
“According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.”
Exodus 25:9, KJV
Imagine how Moses must have felt after God showed him the vision for the sanctuary. It was only then that he understood the breadth of the challenge. He had not a clue how to get started with the work. He must have felt totally overwhelmed by the charge.
What about you? Has God called you to a work that gives you a sense of feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel ill-equipped to do what you believe He is calling you to do? God is more than able to supply your needs for the work of the ministry He has called you to. Let’s see that truth in Moses’ case.
1. God Gifted Other People So Moses Could Carry Out the Vision.
God filled the people with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to do the peculiar work in gold, silver, and brass to make all that God had commanded Moses to do (see Ex. 31:1-6).
Now think about how powerful a thing this was. As for the people whom Moses was leading to the Promised Land, they had only been slaves and laborers in Egypt for the Pharaoh. But God supernaturally gave many of them the required skill sets to do all the work He had called Moses to do.
Similarly, if God calls you to start a local church or Christian ministry of some kind, He knows how to hook you up with the people you need to fulfill the vision. He knows how to bless you with whatever gifts needed to help you carry out the vision.
2. God Adequately Funded the Work through His People.
God told Moses, “Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass” (Exodus 35:5, KJV). The response was overwhelming. Moses had to command the people to stop giving! “The stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much” (Ex. 36:7). Similarly, in these last days, God will be faithful to supply your financial needs for the work of the ministry. He has means at His disposal that you know not of.
So, God gave Moses the vision for the work, He blessed him with the right people, and He blessed him with the required financial support. This is not the exception but the rule when God ordains a work.
Not for Preachers Only
Let me make it clear that what I am saying here is not limited to those who are called to pastoring or church leadership. The premise of this post is that God has called or will call many of you to a work. That work may be under the umbrella of a local church, or it may be a separate work for the Kingdom.
God has gifted every one of us who are in Christ with the ability do relevant work for the Kingdom. I hereby want to encourage and stir you to have a big heart for God. Like Moses, you don’t have to know how to do what God has called you to do. Just know that God is faithful to supply all your needs for the work of the ministry He has called you to.
